Self-Heimlich - Thrusts. Humming (common mistake is using a chair)
Adult Heimlich –Ask questions to determine if they need help: Are you choking? Do you have an attorney? Can I help you?
ADULT CPR: What’s the first thing we do? (Scenario: somebody is unconscious)
Assessment- Assess the situation.
Call 911- Shout out to someone to call. If you are alone call yourself before beginning.
Begin Compressions- The idea of Chest compressions is to keep blood flowing until help arrives. We are counting to 30
Kid CPR: SAME STEPS as above but here we HOLD THE NOSE and GIVE BREATH (kids typically need CPR for different reasons than adults. They benefit from the breath technique where adults may not) *30 compressions and 2 breaths
BABY CPR: *Guidelines recommend the same 30 compressions as above. Jason has a technique that is memorable in a panic situation. He uses a “Conga beat”. CPR CONGA LINE - Holding baby (5 compressions, and one breath) practice rhythm and song starts (Gloria Estefan – Conga Beat)
