Melba's advice on cleaning cast iron
Dry completely & always clean while it is warm-hot by hand.
Make a paste by combining coarse salt & water & with a cloth, scrub the bottom of the pan to remove all residue.
Never use steel wool, dishwashing soap or put it in the dishwasher.
Dry thoroughly.
Take one teaspoon of vegetable oil & with a paper towel rub it into the bottom of the pan.
Store away.
